i remember when nintendo and sega were rivals and they always battled out, selling similiar games. e.g mario and sonic.

nintendo.
nintendo have origional consoles + don't copy the others (sony + microsoft)
they've been around for ages + know what they're doing. they may not have the best graphics going, but who needs graphics? it's gameplay that matters + most of the past nintedo consoles have proven to have great gameplay.
the ds, it's great - touchscreen.
the wii - motion sensor pads.
the gameboy - SMALL + PORTABLE unlike the psp, great battery life, and with the advance sp you charge it instead of using batterys, thats great aswell because you can get car chargers for it.
the gamecube - yes, you use a pad like most other consoles but it's pad is origional + it's a party kinda console, great multi player + it's games aren't all shooting games + whatever.
i could go on but i think people get tired with my essay-long posts in the console forums.
i doubt many people read them tbh, i never spend my time reading long posts.
EDIT;
@ the guy who said sony sell more.
i'd like to change that.
sony HAVE sold more.
they sold tonnes more playstation 2's than nintendo sold gamecube - it was a way better console.
the first two sony consoles were immense (the ps2 + psx) but they're getting boring with not enough origional ideas + are just getting over-priced.
also, if you want to talk about who have sold more - i think you;ll find sony have. they've been around longer than i've been alive. they must have sold millions of nintendo's + nintendo 64's + nes + snes's because they were amazing consoles for thier time + they continue to make great consoels for thier time.
they've been around longer than sony + if you want to see how many consoles nintendo have sold out of ALL thier consoles - youll find that they've sold more than sony out of all thier consoles.
somone wikipedia it + i'll +rep.
just think of all the nintedo consoles;
nes
snes
nintendo
n64
gameboy
gameboy pocket
gameboy colour
gameboy advance
gameboy advance sp
gamecube
ds
wii
and lets look at sony's range on consoles;
psx
the small psx
ps2
ps2 slimline
psp
i'm pretty sure nintendo have sold more over the years.
+ don;t try and correct me with "U FORGOT DA PS3!" because that's not even been released yet + therefore, cannot have been sold.

people could argue that sony have got quality over quantity. they have sold more because they realeased more consoles. it doesnt make them better.
im not sure which side im taking but if sony released as many consoles as the nintendo, they could have sold more.
as i've said before.
they wouldn't have.
sony's consoles are all the same, they're not getting anything new about them, it's the same old crap - good graphics + shooting games.
people would have gotten bored.
+ like i said, the wikipedia information doesn't show every single nintendo console, just the ones in the era of sony + the reason they sold more then is because sony was a new consoles + everybody wanted one, now thats not the case.
Nintendo.
They always have new and original ideas and games with great storylines.
I've had nintendo consoles for as long as I can remember and I don't think i've ever really got bored of them.
Though, Sony have had some good games, they tend to be similar and get old after a while.
j~
Dont forget
Pokemon mini
Gameboy micro
Virtualboy
Ds lite etc
Also arguably partly the playstation because originally it was sony and nintendo making it till nintendo saw it was going nowhere [and a dodgy contract], how right they were.
Nintendo by far.
Old skool ftw!
ive always owned playstations so id have to say sony.
