If you dont want to use <a href=""> etc.
Then just use the onmouseout and onmouseover inside the IMG tag.
EG:/
For me it would be:
<img src="gd/text.php?text=Home" name="home" border="0" id="home" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('home','','gd/bold.php?text=Home',1)" />
