Not necessarily: the dog's bone. You need the apostrophe to signify the bone belongs to the dog - no missing letters. It helps if you know the facts yourself before you go teaching others. :rolleyes:

My comment was aimed at the part where it was said you only use aprostrophes to symbolise for a missing letter(s). But yeah, when is it out?
