    my top three albums of 2006;;

    01. brand new;; 'the devil & god are raging inside of me'.
    if you looked up growth in the dictionary, you would see this album cover. such an amazing album. not only is the music good [brand new were always more talented than their fellow emos] but the lyrics blew me away, lacey has always been a great lyricist but this album can be sad, angry, confused, mournful yet managing to eerie the whole way throughout. and also, limousine is one of the most haunting and beautiful songs ive ever heard. i can listen right from jesse's mournful vocals at the beginning of sowing season to the screeching guitar at the end of luca (reprise) enjoying every minute of this album and i am not usually fond of instrumentals. only time will tell before this ends up one of favourite albums of all time because it truly is a masterpiece and deserves all of the critical success it has been receiving. brand new are no longer the whiny teenagers on 'your favourite weapon', they have leaped out of the emo genre and dived right into something much deeper.

    02. jenny lewis with the watson twins;; 'rabbit fur coat'.
    this album is just lovely. i am huuuge fan of jenny and rilo kiley, so when i bought this album it was no surprise that i loved it from the very first listen. i can listen to this straight through in the summer, just close my eyes and enjoy every minute of it listening to jenny's sweet voice. the watson twins really compliment lewis' vocals and make this album special. they star in 'born secular' and jenny forms an indie supergroup featuring conor oberst and ben gibbard on 'handle with care' but the highlight of the album is the wonderful 'melt your heart. only lasting just under three minutes it is one of the shortest songs on the album but far and away the best song on it and even though this album only came out last year melt your heart would feature in my top 50 songs ever. i can listen to it all day.

    03. amy winehouse;; 'back to black'.
    i must admit, i never knew about 'frank' or anything to do with la winehouse until rehab was released. it was one of my favourite singles last year but i didn't buy the album until 'you know i'm no good'. it is wonderful. the lyrics are in your face and honest, the music is retro and flows so well. i have been listening to it everyday for the last three months. i cant get enough of amy right now. she has such an amazing voice, it's a pity she cant get off the alcohol and the drugs. highlights on the album are the three singles and the infectious 'tears dry on their own' which samples 'ain't no mountain high enough'. it is in my opinion the best use of a sample since sugababes' 'freak like me' and needs to be fourth single. i am glad she is breaking america because this album really deserves to be huge. amy is one of the best british acts around and will be here for years to come... that is of course if she doesn't overdose.

    My favorite album last year was "The Blood, The Body, The Machine" by The Thermals. I hadent heard of them till August, and their album was incredible. 10 short pop-punk songs, almost all of them were great. They got a good review from Pitchforkmedia.com, which was a site I was just getting into, so I checked it out and it was amazing. Now I check Pitchfork every single day to see if there's anything ill love as much.

    Funeral For A Friends album should be pretty good and Lost Prophets are trying to get a new album out near the end of the year.

    The Offspring have an album comming out, as do The Calling.

    Angels And Airwaves shoukd have one comming out near the end of the year aswell.

    Story of the year I think are writting their new album now aswell.

    I wanna hear The Used's new album the most though.
