They are in the UK, you need a firearms licence to carry one in the same way you need one for a standard handgun or airgun because often BB guns that are very similar to real guns were being used in "armed robberies" and stuff so under the anti social behaviour act of 2003 (I think it was 2003) there were lots of restrictions put on them.

Seems fun , i'd be a bit scared to go to a shooting range just incase some mad man tries shooting me with their gun

BB guns are illegal to carry around in public but you still can use them indoors
, They're illegal because they look just like real guns and with tools you can buy at DIY stores you can convert them into real ones , if the police see you carrying one then they'll call the fire arms team who have real guns themselves.
