When I went to 6th form, all the students who received EMA spent it on stuff they wanted.
Not on course materials like it should have been.

I think it should be put into your bank at the end of each week or fortnight which ever you have opted for.

Lol exactly. its his money so people can't exactly tell him how to spend it. Its liek my sisters been saving up over £100 of her ema money to buy this coat she wants.

I don't see the point in the whole EMA thing, but if you've got it you might aswell use the pointless program "/

Indeed and how is that meant to make you buy course materials and not gig tickets etc etc?

EMA is Educational Maintenance Allowance, and you could pretty much twist anything into being "Educational Maintenence".

Just because someone gets EMA, doesn't mean their parents don't have jobs, it just means they don't earn as much as you, so really, it's a way of classing people together again.

I don't get EMA, and in all honesty, I couldn't give a flying hoot what the people who get EMA do with it, it's their money that the government give them to stop them from working so do with it what you wish.

Personally if I don't use mine I save it and I'm letting it build up for when I need it for something else important because the £30 is really useful to me but I don't see a problem with maybe using some every so often to maybe idk treat yourself.
