It wasn't always unlaggy.
I remember at some point in time (Forget which version) a few years ago at exactly 9:00 PM everynight (my time) the hotel would lag for about 30 minutes, UNLESS you were in a public space then you could still talk and such. If you were stuck in a guest room, all you saw was legs and mouths moving non stop
