yeh you can sometimes tell its dreamweaver when it adds unnecessary spaces after and before end tags like <img src="link" attribute />

That space before the end tag is actually XHTML Valid my friend!

The tag isn't closed if its just >

/> closes the tag! (/ closes all open tags, eg </b> closes bold tags.)

[Hypertext]

/> is self-closing in xhtml.
