    Children need to be spanked when they are small to show that you mean what you say. Later you can substitute spanks for reason as the child's reason skills grow.

    The logic to this competition is so ridiculous. People aren't going to express their true opinions because if they did they risk the chance of not saying the right thing and recieving a badge. They are blatently not going to show a balanced arguement. "I think smacking is a justified punishment" - i hardly think they'll be handing out rewards to arguements that the NSPCC are against. Stupid.

    I think smacking is okay in reasonable circumstances and is not child abuse. If i did something wrong and i got smacked for it i sure didn't do it again. As long as it isn't excessive its a good way to set boundaries. And after the child begins to reason and dispute then other punishments are sufficient.
