Using a Vaccum Cleaner is fine and companies recommend you do this. It will NOT damage your computer. You can buy compressed air from any hardware shop.

I would say the easiest method is to get a can of compressed air and a vacuum cleaner, spray the can of compressed air down into the computer and then use the vacuum cleaner to attempt to remove all free'd up dust as it comes upwards as using a can of compressed air alone is similar to a hair dryer and will send dust everywhere.

Lol, the Red cans? Quiet a lot of air comes out if you hold it down. It runs out quick though and it's pretty pricey. I might just spray the cats with water.
