I remember XP being hated, it's just Vista's turn to be infamous.

They will stop SUPPORTING it fairly soon though.

If rumors are true, Windows 7 will have ABSOLUTELY NO backwards compatibility, Microsoft want a clean slate.

Vista's good depending on how good ones computer is. I've ran it on a 1.8Ghz, 1GB ram system and it was terrible. It works well, however, on my Duo core 2.0Ghz 2.5GB ram notebook. It's a resource hog, but I like it.

Trying vista SP1 with 512mb ram was fine as well just slightly lagy.

Are you joking? I am running Vista on a Intel Pentium M 740 / 1.6 GHz (uhh...?) cpu, 2gb RAM and it is more then fine, there is no problems at all.

I don't really mind that XP is going off the market. I've recently bought an iMac and my laptop is running Vista and it's just fine.
