No. The chat system itself may lag, but it will not lag the loading of pages because of the embedded html object. The flash file will most probably connect to the flash server during the body's onload but as it's in the embed tag, the page won't wait for the flash file to load before it continues to load the rest of the page. Hm i only just realised there is a link to the chat at the top of the forum
Anyway i heard one of the managers say not too long ago the problem is based around the bandwidth.

I like this idea - I certainly would use it a lot! The chat atm doesn't get used.That went fast.
