If you go to games you don't have to be from Manchester. Although, there is another argument by saying why go see Man Utd every week when there's loads of other clubs?
.
No you don't, but in my opinion it only makes you a plastic Man United fan. A true fan would have to be born in Manchester for me.
And how is that in any way being naive?
Also known as that charming, handsome, young fellow SHEEPY.
'Cos if someone supports a successful club, you go "plastic fan, don't go to games" etc etc.
Like me - I support Arsenal but I've been unable to go to games because of financial issues and me being the only sport-fanatic in my immediate family. Does that make me a plastic fan? Just because Arsenal haven't won anything in a couple of years does that not make me a plastic fan even though they are a big side?
It's community rules that only swing one way towards successful clubs. Does it mean that I have to come from Havant to support Havant & Waterlooville? Nah, thought you'd change your tune on that one. Sort it out.

If someone were to come from Manchester to see Havant they are going to see a less successful where as if they go and see Man U play from Havant, they are just travelling for success when they can support Portsmouth, Southampton or even Havant.

This raises my other point about successful teams. If you pay to go and see Derby every week (£30) then you're paying to watch the team you support loose. Some people are not going to keep on and on and on paying that amount of money to watch their favoured team loose - hence why they support big teams - hence why the big teams are big - hence why the big teams have a big fan base. What's wrong with supporting a successful club? I live in Bentley, Doncaster. Does that mean instead of going to watch Rovers play I should be watching Bentley Colliery FC (Village Team) play? If I don't, am I a glory supporter?
