Well thepiratebay are going to encrypt their torrents and have-whats aren't they? I remember them saying they wanted to protect the divide between user & server by encrypting packets and the torrents as a whole or something. Bit rusty on the details, but people will find ways of getting around it.
I don't even think many ISP companies will bother investing into the problem much, since they'll say they will but they won't put that much manpower into it. It's the american companies which would have the biggest problem lol.
To be honest I don't think many ISPs will even bother if they're smart, for example..
Say you're with BT, you download loads of music then get a letter saying they'll cut you off, you then think "oh really?" carry on and get another letter, then all you have to do is find of the many ISPs that don't care and join them
This gives smaller companies a chance, then the bigger companies will start losing customers and then they'll think "not good - forget this we need money too" and it'll be fine, plus I'm fairly certain the TOS when signing up to an ISP doesn't say they are allowed to cut you off for downloading copyright material
I'm not really bothered, if they cut me off I'll go with someone else![]()
I'm sure one song won't matter, But just like if you steal a Vista comp Bill Gates won't mind.
I'll be getting -rep for this![]()
You have a good point, but 30GB per week isn't even that much. It's old news really, this contains nothing which hasn't been said before:

The government did an enquiry on file sharing and the outcome was that it needed to be tackled. The government pretty much said that if the ISPs don't begin combating it, they'll introduce laws forcing them to combat illegal file sharers. It'll generally covers music and often movies, the gaming industry is becoming increasingly annoyed so that'll be tackled more seriously soon.
Virgin media are currently doing three-strikes and out like the French do, on your third letter they'll allegedly cut you off. At the moment though just one set of letters has been sent out. Other ISPs are beginning to show interest in stopping it and a lot of the smaller ISPs have been tackling the issue for years.
Like I always say, don't attract attention to yourself, if your downloading 30GB a week then it's going to look rather dodgy. If you do it in moderation it's unlikely you'll get caught and if you do, either change ISP or keep risking it as it will take three letters.
