You never tell alittle kid that -.- I lost faith in him at age 10. My 8 year old brother is on the verge of not believing cause a kid at his school told him so. So me and my mother said "Ok Santa doesn't get kids who don't believe a gift, so you won't get one" "Jordan you believe right ?" "Yes mum " "Well it's just your little brother who won't get one from him XD"

And I have a 3 year old brother who believes. I only pretend to believe so I don't send them off in tears. Even though me and my 8 year old brother are gunna wind up putting eachother in the hospital one day -.-

Yea in America you seem to do subs differently, all the subs in my schools worked for the school just in a different department or something, we never had someone from a company to do it, I read on a bit more of the article and saw that she was from an agency or something.

    WHAT!? Santa isn't real? ;[

You've just taken the magic out of christmas for the entire forum, thanks =P

But seriously, I wouldn't be too happy if my child was reduced to tears from a teacher (if i had a child).

Wouldnt telling them all Santa isnt real increase rowdyness?

Wow, fire someone for telling the truth? I understand it was wrong to tell children, but maybe they wanted to know. Who brings that up for no reason...?

To fire someone who didn't break rules at all and has a degree to teach is stupid.
I would have told them the truth too, including; Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc...

    Reading the posts above...
She probably works in a school district, which pays and assign her to schools. If she gets fired, it means that she isn't working at those schools anymore, but the best thing to do is apply to another district once the smoke clears.

DON'T BLAME THE TEACHER, BLAME THE PARENTS!

    And I quote:
"We told him that she did not believe in Father Christmas because of her religion and he's fine now."

Lying to them more, that was their chance to tell them the truth about Santa without hurting them more, now in a few years they will get heartbroken for the same topic...

Whats worse a lie that can draw a smile or a truth that can draw a tear - a quote I stole from a movie I saw the other day

You only get to be a child once I think it's wrong to destroy a childs imagination.. I personally was never actually 'told' Santa wasn't real over time I just worked it out for myself at the normal age parents normally tell their kids anyway... which I think is the best way I wasn't heart broken or upset I just in a way knew don't know how to explain it really..
I’ll be a story in your head, but that’s okay, because we’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best. A daft old man who stole a magic box and ran away. Did I ever tell you that I stole it? Well, I borrowed it. I always meant to take it back. Oh, that box, Amy, you’ll dream about that box. It’ll never leave you. Big and little at the same time. Brand-new and ancient and the bluest blue ever. And the times we had, eh? Would had…Never had. In your dreams, they’ll still be there. The Doctor and Amy Pond and the days that never came.
