I know where you're coming from with the whole "don't want a girlfriend yet" thing, but what are you going to do when you do get a girlfriend? You won't have as much experience with girls as most other people, so you'll be all nervous and stuff.
Just go out and start talking to girls. It'll stop the rumours, and you don't have to do anything with them, just get the experience of being around girls and talking to them.
