It was sort of though to be him anyway. He was the most likely candidate amongst all of the speculation. Not much of a surprise to me that it has actually turned out to be him TBH.

I read somewhere that he came out with it because a newspaper spotted him near the Top Gear studio with the full Stig outfit on minus the helmet and published it...

I've known this for nearly 2 years? How does this change anything? If you wanted to find out a simple Google search would of told you, it's your own fault for reading the article which reveals the Stig. Not many people will of heard of him anyway unless they're a big motorsport enthusiastic.
