can u still get all the new guns etc if you havnt finished the game?

Yeah you can play the DLC any time after you've left Vault 101. I'd recommend finishing the game first because although you do not take your weapons/armour into the DLC simulation, you take your perks, stats and stuff so i'd get to level 20 for as much health and action points as possible.
I completed it there and got a tonne of stuff including some unavailable in the main game. I got the T51-b Winterized Armour, Chinese Stealth Suit, Gauss Rifle, Trench Knife, Simulation Suit.
Gauss Rifle is mint.
I also got all the GS

When you 'complete' the game, is that it? No free-roam?

Yeah save before you complete it so you can continue.
3rd DLC sorts that out and its out in March.

I hate DLC's. It makes me think that the game was published unfinished. This is another reason why the current generation is better than the new generation. Still, I'll have to save before the end. Is there a DLC with vehicles by any chance?
