We have restrictions (heavy) and we now have this user thing that tells you what your internet access is such as full, off or restricted by teacher which is basically only sites what your teacher has requested

I used to just put NO$GBA on my USB with like 30gb of DS ROM's and played them, it was my work so they could not delete it from my hardrive, the best they could do was ban me from the internet, I was actually good at ICT so had many days were i sat and had nothing to do as my teacher insisted to work on each task at each deadline and not to go ahead.

There used to be a glitch on my schools system were you could search the directories, and it would give you everybody’s passwords like the technician, so most of the time i would do that and log as a technician and unban people. But the school in the last 2 years updated to RM, so all the new students are not as lucky.

Most proxies don’t work as you will find most of the proxies run on the same server so they just block that. At college I don't play games as much as i did because what’s the point? I chose to go to college to do work, not be an idiot and not much things here is blocked.

Are your PCs all RM or different? Because I will try find all the bugs for RM that will get you around the system. As far as I am aware you can still search the directories and find out who has been banned and whose banning them.

Most Japaneese game websites were not blocked so i used to just go on them =]

My School blocks anything remotely non-school related, the other day they were testing to block all new proxies that use https:// but when they blocked the extensions https:// most sites on the Internet were blocked, including google, lol.

our school doesnt monitor us at all. In library today my mate ally managed to get this program on and attempted to get all the registry data out of the pc. Unfortunately the software he used only worked if he was logged in as admin, still, something to do if a teacher leaves the room.

And yeah some sites are blocked pointlessly, like pcpro is now blocked? Weird. But going through google cache works still

The most effictive way of bypassing this is to put portable firefox on your usb flash drive, It does not need to be installed as it is portable

    Here's portable firefox:

A Great plan with just one major draw back. Most to all schools don't connect directly through the internet instead going through proxies which in themselves are what filters your browsing needs. By having no proxy you'll hit a dead end with no way to reach the net. If your school doesn't need proxy settings then you won't be filtered.

To others who post about random things being blocked there is normally a good reason behind it, this is that most ban lists are shared through a central program which many schools use this could be; RM, Viglen etc which could simply mean in another school a student has been on this site rather then doing their work and the class teacher has requested the Network manager to ban the site meaning you all suffer.

There is no real way to get around a filter other than jumping from a webproxy to another web proxy. Most of your Schools, Colleges IT Staff aren't idiots and will have software in place that leads to it being banned.

1 problem at my school is that they've banned anything running from USB apart from certain files like .doc.
