Rabbits are cute and relatively easy to look after BUT be careful. If you notice anything unusual take it to the vet straight away. & the money for medication can build up. They aren't as cheap as you would think.

My rabbit died the other month from a parasite in its brain. We looked after it sooo well so it just goes to show anything can happen. Don't expect them to last too long (some people are lucky enough however >.<). I'm getting guinea pigs soon and I've heard they are easier to look after. Plus you're told to buy two so that's double the fun

Why don't you try out a rat ? They're not as disgusting as everyone thinks they are. They're really clean and don't start to smell unless you leave them for weeks and weeks and weeks.
They love human company and you can teach them tricks. They're as easy as looking after a hamster but they're not as nocturnal.
I've had 3 and out of having 2 (well atcually 3 but that's a long story) rabbits, 2 guinea pigs, 3 hamsters and 3 rats I would say that the rats were my favourite.
