We should use the system that facepunch uses where you can give a tick or a cross or 'good post' or'spelling' or theoretically anything.

IMO there's never a need to -rep. If the post is breaking rules then it's up to the forum moderators to punish them and not me, I could always speed along this process by reporting the post.

If I don't like their post I should learn to accept their opinion or I should argue my point/counter argument with them in public or via PM rather than anonymously writing a snarky comment which is only for pathetic losers if I'm being brutally honest.

Isn't the thanks system basically rep where everyone only has 1 rep power? If the idea is to show everyone how helpful (or popular as obviously every such system is flawed in such a way) then just have total rep on display rather than changing the entire system

I think it'd be better if we had both, but all in separate forums ect.

Totally agree. I have really only got used the change in the rep system - I am happy with it the way it is now.

Still flawed for us users who are never gonna get close to 5 rep, let alone 15+ that some people have, from the days of buying VIP and getting 15 rep/buying rep points. (I think?)

Where's the flaw? If everyone around you has higher rep then it's clearly easier for you to get more rep out of them. Also you're confusing rep with rep power. I have 17 rep power (ie each time I rep someone they get 17 rep points, or if I -rep they lose 8) but my actual rep is 7722, which is quite different. VIP rep and buying rep only added to the rep points not power (except indirectly of course) but with the last big changes that bonus was minimalised for the most part anyway

People don't rep other people based on what their rep power is! If a new member makes a good post I'll +rep them regardless of their rep power. That's a completely moot point :S

I +rep and -rep all sorts of people, regardless of their power. I give rep to people above me and to people below me.
