Apart from B movies and stuff so independantly amateur even Misawa can't bear to watch I can't think of any vampire horror films of late. I think it was Underworld that really made them seem so soft because they were humanised too much (even more than in Buffy), but if you made a real horror flick with real vampires I'm sure it could still be scary
Underworld was worth it for Kate Beckinsale in that bodysuit.
I do agree that vampires in the conventional sense are being edged out by the twilight generation crap. Still every now and then you get a decent vampire film such as 30 days of night. So long as these films appear, even if they are few and far between I don't mind looking down my nose at screaming fangirls.

Ahhh, I had forgotten about 30 days of night!

I think the ratings for it weren't great, but I enjoyed it anyway.

Way better than Twilight crap though.

    Well the thread says film...

Vampires are vampires. They shouldn't be dragged down from their horror podium down to some teenage girl romantic fantasies. The Twilight films are pathetic, poorly made and rushed. I've never read the books, but the idea in itself is something that should never have been conceived.

As dumb as they are, when people think Twilight they don't think vampires, and when people think vampires they don't think of Twilight. True vampire stories are very much safe, and their authors/auteurs are probably laughing at this new garbage, I certainly would be.
