different types
one of them is from mouth to mouth contact (ie a lot of people get it during childhood from kissing - prob from ur mum ;l - once you have it you'll keep getting them). not sure if u can get it from drinking from the same cup as someone etc but it's possible. these types (coldsores) don't spread to other places just mouth i think.
then there's genital herpes which go on your mouth but i wouldn't know coz i don't do that
