The notices aren't for serious things though. I can guarantee clicking the X constantly as you do means you won't miss a thing if you're not into competitions/events.
I don't mind the news bulletins (besides on mobile skin, but they don't show up for me anymore there).
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
You do realise on vb3 the notices changed every 6 hours? We change them every 24 with new information which is clearly valuable to the majority of members as the number of people entering our competitions etc are increasing day by day. Also, yesterday Roxy916 held a giveaway which needed advertising well, therefore the notice was changed hugely for this.
It's easy to notice the notice is for Easter because of the images, so if you don't want to read it, click X, any important notices will be more obvious.

Not when I automatically click X without reading what's on it because it's most probably some silly easter competition that I, nor many other users care for. If the users that wanted to enter competitions, wanted to enter competitions - surely they'd be in the competitions forum. Makes sense to me.You do realise on vb3 the notices changed every 6 hours? Please change it to important updates only. It is really annoying. Or at least give us the option to automatically turn it off or not show up in the first place.
We give you the dismiss button. You can simply click dismiss![]()
Easter is over now anyway lol. I really don't see the problem though, but you never can please some people, but I'd say this has pleased more than the minority in this thread.

People who haven't registered who visit the forum will also see them and realise there is something going on that they can get involved with. It's a dismissable message that takes you less than a second to close.
I don't honestly see how this is such an abhorrent infringement of your forum usage. In the past we were complained at about how we didn't do enough to promote events and competitions and in doing just that we now get people complaining further.
Ex-janitor. Might pop in from time to time, otherwise you can grab all my information from http://jamesy.me.uk/
Apart from the recent threads in this very forum congratulating the events team and the competitions staff for excellence?

There is also another thread in here specifically praising the events department on their work but I can't find it because it only goes back 5 pages (another thing that needs changing imo).
The noticeboard is a good way of advertising. If you don't like it, click the X. It doesn't require much effort.Originally Posted by that thread you just linked

I can't think of any decent ideas right now apart from having a notification at the top weekly (like the one which appeared today for forum rules) and/or asking Admins to promote competitions in their signatures - as prizes are Forum VIP / Reputation a lot of the time.
Thanks for the fantastic input that hasn't at all been replicated in this thread. At all.
ON TO THE QUOTE. IT SAYS "WEEKLY" NOT "HOURLY" OR "DAILY".
I'd be fine with weekly. It's just literally every time I log on. I think this morning is the only time I havn't had to click there, even though my cursor immediately went to that spot.
