EastEnders fans were left confused yesterday evening when an unaired episode made its way on to BBC's iPlayer 24 hours early.

Tonight's instalment of the Walford serial found its way online rather than last night's screening, which should have been made available instead.

Access to the early episode was withdrawn at around 10pm and the offending URL redirected to the soap's official website.

A BBC spokesperson this afternoon told me: "Due to human error, the wrong episode of was briefly aired on BBC iPlayer."

They added: "This was rectified but we apologise if this spoiled anything for viewers."
