I edited those threads in tech asking nicely for users to respond to the threads with reasons why. I think it'd be good to encourage - but not enforce - users who create these threads to place it their OP "explain why". I know Samsta has started doing this lately and it's generating a better discussion
A mod can always edit a thread to say state reasons for opinions if they believe the thread is simple turning into a one-word answer post count bumping spree.

What about limiting the amount of threads a member can create in a single forum over a specified period of time? For example no more than 3 threads in an hour in the same forum. Think about it - how often have you ever seen someone post more than a few threads in quick succession which *haven't* been the short effortless type? It's probably almost never. A rule like this may have influenced a member to make one thread about search engines, browsers and emails rather than three separate ones for let's face it, an extra pip on the post count.
