I wouldn't be so sure of that. In fact, thats completely wrong.

    Well worth purchasing/downloading!
The original Ninja Scroll is great! But I wouldn't say it's the best... In terms of Samurai, Sword of The Stranger trumps it all and really, in terms of anime movies - Tekkonkinkreet is brilliant. Or the Girl Who Leapt Through Time

I own the Kubrick boxset but still have yet to watch Lolita, Dr. Strangelove and Barry Lyndon. I find the only problem with Kubrick's films is that you have to be in exactly the right mood to watch them, but then again every time you do watch them you always spot something new or catch on to something you didn't before.
I thought 2001 was more centred whereas Blade Runner had themes everywhere. Not hard to see or analyse, mind, but I find more enjoyment in seeing the hidden things in 2001. I am tasking myself with watching every great war movie ever made, with FJM at the top of the list. I too own a Kubrick boxset, although it's kind of old, I may update to bluray.

I agree with the 'right mood', since they're not really enjoyable until you start interpreting what is going on screen. It's not everyone, either, and generally 2001 is a very very slow movie.

I would consider Blade Runner the more centered film. The plot heads in a more straight forward direction and while it does take some thought the answers are there to work things out. In 2001 though the narrative isn't so straight forward and the ending is very ambiguous on first viewing. Neverthless, they are both films that'll require repeated viewing before the viewer is able to decide what they mean.

Watching every great war movie is indeed a task. I haven't really seen many myself, but Saving Private Ryan and Letters from Iwo Jima are my favourite war films.
