Try some user made kernels if you can, Tom. Cyan 6.0 is just amazing for the N1.
I think Cyan 6.0 is being ported to the Desire soon, but CM seemed to get slower and slower with every release on my G1.

And yes, FroYo is 2.2 Gingerbread is 3.0, which will have specific hardware requirements to try and break the fragmentation of Android handsets.

An iPhone with Android is simply the best combination out there (although I'm not sure how usable it is yet )
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.

It's meant to be usable but there are bugs (as expected), wish I'd have tried it before I sold my 3G

Wonder if it will ever be ported to i4... that would be cool. iPhone 4 iOS 4 dual booted with Android, haha.

I think, if that happened, I would actually envy iPhone users

Has there been any report what those specs might be?

Since I'm planning on buying an Android phone in the near future I'd like to know so that I can get a somewhat future proof phone ;P

I've tried looking around, but having found any reliable information.

Not sure how true these are but I read them over at Neowin.

    • It will be released mid-October 2010. Just in time Black Friday and the holiday season rush.
    • Minimum Hardware requirements: 1Ghz CPU, 512MB RAM, 3.5" displays and higher. As of now, the majority of handsets do not fall whithin the minimum, allowing the new OS to focus on bigger systems, namely tablets.
    • 1280x760 resolution available on screens 4" or bigger.
    • Overhauled user interface. UnwiredView.com compares it to the Gallery App on Android 2.2, just throughout the whole UI.
    • Less reliance on third-party UI shells like HTC's Sense or Motorola's MotoBlur.

    My thoughts exactly ;D

Good to know (assuming those specs are right) that if I get a Desire it'll meet the requirements.
