    True, beat a few records though

    Another one, Lord of the Rings!

    As did Meet the Spartans, and you wouldn't call that a classic would you?

    It's partially a remake of the absolute classic It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, which is really ought to be seen by anyone who owns a damn DVD player.

    Yet it's a well made remake, has a high quality cast and is regarded highly.

    In honsesty you are actually the first person to dislkie this film. Every other person i have discussed it with thinks of it as a comic master piece

    I don't dislike it at all. I found it ballswhackingly hilarious, although the first act drones on for a bit.

    "Regarded highly." -> http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/rat_race/ ouch.

    I don't think it's a Classic film, but I will say that it's one of the most hilarious I've ever seen.

    Rat Race most definitely isn't a classic in my eyes, nor have I ever seen anyone refer to it as a masterpiece. It's a good movie, but has a director who is a far better writer, and only creates cinematic magic when he's working with his brother and Jim Abrahams.

    Way over half the films mentioned in this thread are definitely not classics. Especially when some of them were made only a couple of years ago. The thread starter clearly stated he wanted to see how things have changed over the years, so recommending films such as Avatar, Harry Potter and Shrek is not going to help.

    The Back to the Future Triology. The best set of films ever made in my opinion. Such good meaning and really interesting to look and what people thought the year 2000 would be like. On the other hand, such a depressing reminder of how (and what) we have developed into.
