Nobody could live without it, the stock market would implode, thousands of people rioting. All post and communcations would be lost which would lead to global de-economisation (is that even a word?)

Would that really be their main concern? It's unlikely anyone would know about any of that, seeing as communication would nearly all collapse :/ Would people really riot? Last time a power cut happened I don't remember rioting when it happened for ages at a timeIf anything, governments would get onto their little emergency meetings and send a shockware of officials out to every part of the country with messages of what is happening and so forth. It's unlikely they would immediately riot unless given a reason to

Of course I'd be able to live without it, anyone who says otherwise is just stupid. You wouldn't just drop dead.

I don't think we would riot in that sense but a lot of angry people. Although we don't normally have power cuts that last for so long.Would that really be their main concern? When they say "could you live without" they don't mean Oh we don't have it now, we should all die. Basically can you manage life normally without it and what not. Some people will be fine, others will struggle. Also Stephen highlighted a very good point regarding the "drop dead" scenario.
I've lived without technology for 12 long days, thats about as good as it gets really.
