It isn't scary, just violent. Although compared to some films the violence level isn't all that high. By far the best thing about Battle Royale is Takeshi Kitano though. You should check it out.

It's often on Film4 too which is pretty cool. Don't bother with the sequel, however.

Nice guest appearance from Yuko Miyamura as well. The only thing that lets the movie down is probably Tatsuya Fujiwara, who has gone on to ruin both the live action Kaiji and Death Note movies (he played Light). Or maybe it's just me who doesn't like him.

Coolio. Was gonna watch it tonight, but after talking about final destination, and still feeling creaped out (despite that film not being scary in the slightest), i decided id watch it when people were awake + it was day time
