    I think you can get some with switches on, but what I meant was turn everything else off.

    The splitters with switches don't require the other devices to be switched off, all you have to do is push the switch for the device you want to use.

    e.g. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=43158 - if you want to use the device plugged into the top port, then you push the top button. etc.
