The goals of the media are to 'put down' any club daring to come close to Manchester United and the 'great' Sir Alex. Look at Rooney, before this they would show clips of him scoring, he would be branded the white Pele etc. Now? Well all they're showing is him being injured and missing sitters. They're scared of upsetting Sir Alex. What's the old saying? No smoke without fire?

Jake, a Manchester United fan today admitted Manchester United need the money more than we (Manchester City) need Rooney. Yes he's putting the gloss on it like you're doing saying you'll purchase Torres or whoever however he realises that this isn't media work, this is real. A Manchester United season ticket holder, home and away fan. I saw his face today when I said "admit it, you need the money more than we need the player". He was generally hurt. This is going to be a long road however it's football, it wouldn't surprise me to see him sign a new five year deal at Manchester United tomorrow, nor would it surprise me to see him leave Manchester United for Manchester City. It's football.

Sir Alex is the greatest manager that has lived. I'm not saying he doesn't have huge influence, rightly or wrong - he does. I think Rooney has made the wrong decision here and why he has done it I do not know. However, he betrayed his boyhood club, his wife and now the team that as SAF put it has "done nothing but help him". SAF looked emotional and he is one of the most hard nosed people around. Ronaldo was better than Rooney though, that has to be remembered. United have invested in youth - there would be no point if they never broke though. Say the money they get for Rooney merely aids the financial burden of the club it wouldn't be the end of United as you seem to think/dream. I'd prefer Rooney to stay in the PL, as a neutral, just for the abuse. It'll be funny.

Either way I'm just sitting back and watching it go over, it's like a big industrial firework. First Manchester United were bought by Glazer (the light of the fuse), then Manchester City got bought the good Sheikh (the whiz into the air) then Debt/Ronaldo/Rooney occur (the explosion) then Manchester City start winning things, signing players such as Silva/Tevez (the pretty bit in the sky).

I'm just laughing at this Rooney business. If he signs for us he signs, if not it's been a laugh.

SAF said that all he asked of Rooney was for him "to respect the great traditions of the club" and spoke about how Rooney himself spoke about his ankle injury with SSN. Fergie is very clever, every United fan who sees this interview will find it hard not be with SAF.

A sad day for our club, we will never be able to replace Rooney and Ronaldo. Two fantastic players who should still be at our club but greed has drove them away from our great club. On the bright side Rooney has already peaked for us and with the amount of money being thrown about for top players we should get a big amount for him still even though he only has 18 months left on his contract. I'd hate to see him play for Citeh though, it will just show how much of a money grabbing *REMOVED* he is, the only reason he would go there is for the money because he aint going to win trophies there

Lost Tevez, Ronaldo and soon Rooney, Giggs and Scholes (and maybe Fergie) don't have much longer left, £1bn of debt.

    Not looking good is it?

edit: Everton have a 25% sell on clause too, lol.

It has looked bleak for years but I'm sure we will get out of this mess, hopefully we will get new owners like Liverpool and start to rebuild our finances from there.

I don't think a club like us or Liverpool will end up like Chester. The only way is down for both clubs now though. We can't compete with the biggest clubs in Europe anymore, we can't bring in world class players and offer them high wages. The next few seasons are going to be *REMOVED* for us
