then you don't get too far past mainstream. especially since arcade fire's album went #1 in both the US and UK (thus effectively making them "mainstream"). really people who haven't heard them haven't been paying attention much at all, because for real ive seen them everywhere the past year especially, and even before that they we're pretty damn well-known.

i'm not bashing people who haven't heard of them, i dont really care, but people thinking they're "nobodys" really have no idea what they're talking about. google "best albums of the decade" and i can guarantee you that every list you find, arcade fire's "funeral" will be in the top 10.

ps. if you ever saw the trailer for where the wild things are, then you indeed have come across arcade fire

Well is listening to stuff people record in their own houses too mainstream for you.

Nothing I listen to is mainstream, yet I've still heard about them everywhere. People who haven't at least heard their name must be either too stuck with their Top 40 made-to-sell ********, or are just musically ignorant.

i don't get it, how can someone be 'musically ignorant' just because they haven't heard of a band? it's not a decision that they have made to never have never come across them before... if they were making judgments about them when they have never heard of them or listened to their music then yes fine but how is not hearing of them ignorant :S am i missing something :S

musically ignorant would be the right term in this situation because arcade fire are/have been everywhere. they're all over commercials, they're used in tv shows, in movies.

i am so shocked at the majority of people who do not know them ;l.

    surely you recognise this song:
