Generally just taking all the concepts from iOS and plonking them into a desktop OS, it's a terrible idea IMO.

The "Launchpad" feature does scream "tacky" Not sure why they have that :/ The multi-touch hand gestures feature on a trackpad seems a bit bizarre and pointless too

If it's anything like the magic mouse then if you install MagicPrefs it's extremely useful.

It's the position a trackpad is in that makes me question it. At least a Magic Mouse extends the uses of a conventional mouse, a trackpad tends to be annoying in most situations, unless simply tapping. Can't they just ship it with a Magic Mouse?

I had a multitouch trackpad on my Asus EEE 901 and it was extremely useful for scrolling down and up pages with a two finger swipe. I would imagine, given how much real estate Apple tends to give their trackpad, that it would be very useful for two finger swipes for scrolling and navigating back and forth, three finger taps for application launchers and whatever else you want to set up with magicprefs - I swear there was already multitouch capable trackpads that worked like the magic mouse with magicpref before this, anyways.

I wouldn't trash it until I've given it a fair go, you might be surprised.

Apple will never lower there prices on there macbook range.

Apple won't lower the price because people buy them. Why would they make things cheaper and lose money when they make plenty of money at the prices now.
