I like the awards system. But i think awards recieved should be advertised more.

If we could maybe select our 3 favourite awards or so and have them appear on our posts somewhere? Just small little badges, yet people would actualy see them around the forums.

I think having at least a few visable somewhere on our posts without having to click on anything would make more people aware of awards etc. Also i believe that if people think they can show them off they will be more inclined to getting them.

I disagree. I think the awards would look tacky personally, although if there were more rare badges this would be good.

May I ask though, for someone who wants the swear filter removed, isn't having 'babyish' badges on display slightly contradictory?

Well it does sound reasonable except the members will have to keep a record of them, themselves. I cannot see much difference between 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and milestone ones as one award is going to replace the other, so they won't be multiple, and it is hardly going to take a lot of admin time - most could be 12 a month.

It isn't exactly popular, I don't even know what awards I have never mind anyone else.

    Perhaps for Sunday Updates have:
Sunday Updates Bronze (for having one idea implemented)
Sunday Updates Silver (for having three ideas implemented)
Sunday Updates Gold (for having five ideas implemented)
Sunday Updates Platinum (for having ten ideas implemented)

That way there is something to aim for, and few people will get the platinum one making it 'worth something'

EDIT: Sorry didn't realise Rosie had posted saying to have a promotion style system - didn't read thread

To me, it seems a lot like the chat system we had years back, unused.

EDIT: Oh hello, 6 year milestone next month ;]
You two are claiming the award system is a "failure" when infact we get hundreds of awards requests each week. Your post in itself contradicts itself also Tom, as you prove the award system being used by saying you use it for yourself - it's never going to be about other peoples awards because this is a habbo forum, who cares what awards someone has it's all about having awards for yourself.

Yes, the new award would have to replace the original one because otherwise there would be too many.

The awards system will be a huge success if you have a few awards displayed on peoples posts, although I don't think it would look great. Then getting a rare badge would be 'superb' and would make it worth something. I just don't think they really stand out at the moment.

I never really wanted the awards system to stand out as I think they can be quite tacky when they are on show too much. That might just be my personal opinion, however. I always thought they were more about personal achivement, I know they are for me anyway.

Lol, i actualy laughed when i read the last bit. Firstly they are completely unrelated and secondly, you quoted 'babyish'. When did i ever say these awards look babyish? Your just pulling stuff out of thin air here...

I don't think they look babyish at all. In fact i fail to see how they look babyish...

I had a look through the awards and there do seem to be quite a few rare badges that would make it unique for people. I suppose i won't know myself if they will look tacky until i see how they would be applied to posts.

That sounds good and the most sensible but my point was about 'milestone' awards. It is simple to remember that you have been on the forum for 5 years but not so simple to remember how many update awards one has. The member would have to keep a record of the announcement with 'milestone' ones to apply when they say had three. If it was just 1,2,3,4,5, etc it would be less complicated as they would apply on the announcement and no additional admin would be required.

No because he doesn't consider that babyish, that's an opinion held by some Just because it's done partially for the benefit of younger members does not make it babyish.

I disagree, I don't know why the award system being in the postbit needs to be a prerequisite for success. Actually, from what I can remember, there was a lot of opposition to introducing the awards to the postbit - that was part of the reason we didn't introduce awards for so long, members thought it looked tacky on other sites. Having it off the postbit and in another section provided a compromise.

I didn't " " babyish, but I would of thought a colourful, sparkly award might make you upset? Just looking out for you x

I did actually say they look tacky myself, check my post a few up. However, at the moment I don't think they are really shown enough.

    ----

Oli, I agree they might look tacky. However, I don't think many people get badges for personal achievement. Look on Habbo - people always display their rarest badges, as they are something others don't have. If I had a gold BB badge, a gold SS badge etc, I wouldn't show the badge saying 'I changed my motto'.

At the end of the day though, just because I think they would look tacky, doesn't mean it would be a totally bad idea.
