How would we know they aren't cheating? They could be asked to state their forum name and what it is they will be playing and the name of their instrument, perhaps?

Good point! I rather like the idea of this being a video type thing as then hopefully that could help eliminate cheating As I said, they could be asked just to simply state what instrument they're playing, the piece they're playing and their forum name. I think it'd be well good

One thing though, if you look at my recent article, I posted about virtualpiano where you can play the piano online and it sounds fairly genuine.

Therefore, if you play the piano/keyboard etc, then surely you could video your hands playing the actual instrument.

I know it would be more difficult to do so with instruments nearer the face, but you get my drift?!

Yeah, I think one thing though is that you'd need to confident in playing and showing yourself if you were going to play an instrument that was going to be nearer to your face, but I suppose we could get them to say their forum name, instrument and piece title, then they could simply tilt the camera away a little if they didn't want to show their face or something?
