I agree, you can change them, but I am not sure how. There is a good version of one on the Zelda Forums where I found SMF first.

there skins need direct editing of certain php bits rather than parsed tag useage used in advanced skining systems like ipb users etc "/

I found where to do so, but I have lost it. You don't edit 1 skin, you edit each types like Admin CP, Index, Calender etc. It is a good idea but time consuming.

its easier when forums have html templates of the forum you can edit because then you can mess around with how its set out not just colours.

wow - I actually agree with you. You dont get that much control of the HTML things with IPB, but you get more than almost every other forum. Another reason why IPB 2.0.4 and vBulletin 3.5 aren't in the same league

Im guessing from that you have only ever used IF wich removed most of the html templates and skin editing tools, as ipb 1.x has tones of stuff to do with skin giveing you compleat control on how stuff looks "/

Wow, that statement is completely wrong! You get full control of the HTML templates in each skin. Not only that but you can easily change the language files from your AdminCP.

IPB blows vB out of the water.
