er neither of them really listen to music much anymore, but my mom definitely taught me some of my "style"

momma: the smiths, the cure, morrissey in general, killing joke, kajagoogoo, police, prince, ace of base, errrr nowadays she likes ed sheeran, snow patrol, the kooks, the hoosiers, acousticy stuff mainly.

my dad, omg he doesn't really "like" music but he has these songs he'll whip out over and over again and tell me how good they are.

Well there are old bands but if you take any of the current artist most would run out of popular songs easily as a lot of the mainstream artists out atm, well quite a few have basically a few popular songs. A band like the eagles though has a large collection - I saw them live and they did a big variety but they could have done double the length of the show and still be able to perform popular stuff people know.

... Well if they are current and recent bands then they quite obviously don't have the years behind them that The Eagles do. Forgive them for not being born decades ago? Wth are you trying to say lmao

I'm trying to say how a band like the eagles have loads and loads of hits - while as most of today's bands seem to bring out 1 or two hits and then fall off the radar - they then tour and try and get popular but they don't have enough popular music.

Some bands obviously have a load of hits - but there are bands out there with a few albums and yet people only know 2 songs by them.

My dad used to like Moby and New Order and stuff, but now I think he's more into KT Tunstall and Adele n'people like that. Although mostly he just listens to BBC Radio 2. But he has a nice album collection which includes things from Avril Lavigne to Pink Floyd to Enya and beyond. I haven't spoken to my mum about music in like six years, but back then she liked Scissor Sisters, ABBA and The Darkness. Don't really know what she likes now, she mostly listens to the radio as well, although instead of the BBC it's Heart (TOTAL UGH).

You don't really have a point, bands like that have always existed

All I was saying is there aren't as many bands these days that produce as many hits over as many years - most of todays bands come have a good album or two and vanish - that was my point I was making

Yeah but I'm saying that bands like that have ALWAYS existed, it's not a new thing. Most bands of the 60s and 70s we hear nothing of, the world only remember the legends, and bands that are current now will go on to be remembered as well..
