I passed my driving test in an automatic, so I am only qualified to drive automatics - but that doesn't bother me. I drove fine in a manual car during the lessons, but during the test, it all went to pieces and I failed about 3 times - so I redid it in an automatic and passed. That said, I view a car as a way to get from A to B - it's not something I drive for pleasure or anything. Most people in the UK will be qualified to drive manual and automatic (having passed in a manual).

About the only things in USA that comes with Manual from the factory is high end sports cars (Mustang, Camaro, Corvette)
They do indeed, you can easily buy a car with an automatic gear box but it's better to pass the test with a manual (stick) license and be able to drive both automatic and manual cars. The only cars that only ever come with automatic transmissions are American cars like the Chrysler Voyager (which I think is the Town & Country over where you are), though they seem to be European these days and come with both. Quite a few automatic cars are easy to find as they are usually offered as rental cars, replacement cars or mobility cars (cars that are sold to the elderly or those with disabilities for very cheap) so they're usually in circulation and sold as Used. Most of the time there are manuals but it's a healthy mix given the demand for both manuals and automatics.

Doubt i'll ever drive an automatic to be honest, driving isn't really driving to me if your cars not a manual. It's super easy to learn, automatic omylord, brake and accelerate.. sure monkeys could be trained to do thatą

I am looking for a manual car now.. when I bought the one I have now I didn't want a 6-speed.. I got one because it was all they had.. now that I want one it's a different story
I'm at a point in my life where I don't care if you like me or you don't. If you like me, cool. If you don't, meh.
