Slightly slightly slightly pink in the very middle. Any red and I won't eat.

Omg... I used to have it well done because I was a little squeamish at the sight of blood, but then I tasted medium! omg. Always get it medium, unless it's a worse looking place then medium rare cos they always get it wrong

Medium rare / well done. Medium rare in a steak house, well done somewhere that doesn't look trustworthy.

On a sort of related note: There's a steak house I go to sometimes and when you order a steak they give you a quarter-iceberg lettuce with honey and mustard sauce with bacon bits... Is that normal, to line the stomach or just something to look nice and healthy? It's the only place I know of to do it.

Has to be rare - and actually rare. So many times I've ordered rare and imho it's at least well done. Rare is 5 mins total TOPS, 2 - 2+1/2mins a side preferably on a medium-high heat.

FYI the 'blood' isn't actually blood. It's myoglobin - a protein that stores oxygen for use in muscles. Not sure if that makes it better or worse for you but it's 100% NOT blood. If you usually have it medium or well done, try it rare next time. It's honestly so much nicer and better for you too. Butcher-bought steak, or from a decent restaurant is also 100x better than anything you can pick up in the supermarket.

I like the fat part well done and the meat I'd say done just enough I think .
