You know, you are very selfish not to care about the events in New Orleans and the fact people are dying and are already dead. I hope you regret posting that.Originally Posted by moose

To be honest, I am not botherd by the hurricane at all.
Sorry~
well, this is a blast from the past!!
To clear things up:
Yes it was evacuated, but people arent FORCED to leave, they are just very strongly recommended. And there are very poor people down there, who didnt have a way to get out of it, so their only hope was to stay, and hope they survive
Cash would be most appropriate to donate, because many people dont have insurance. So when they lost everthing, they litterally lost everything.
Also: We should have been more prepared, because we knew it was comming.
A city on the shore, recieves a few hurricanes a year, and they are 20 feet below sea level. They recieve a big hurricane, they are doomed.
People are still stranded there, and there are buses and things getting people out, but unfortunatly, you need money. Rich people are also paying extra to get on. So it isnt helping the poor.
Well USA, The Worlds Most Powerful Country, Weakless, They Should Work As A Team
What can we do about it
America=Worlds richest country! I do think everybody should help as it's such a bad thing.
It's not exactly an issue of money currently. They have the supplies and the means to provide assistance but they encountered difficulties. The government is not to blame and these people did have advance warning and chose to stay during the hurricane.
Unfortunate for those that lost their lives and those who are stranded but there is no one to blame in this scenario and the world never runs smoothly without interference. I'm sure they are doing all they can to rescue survivors and protect the assets of New Orleans.
some americans are whining about how little food they have and how little water they have when their own govnerment puts other countries - even iraq, for years and keeping 3rd world countries in debt. I dont think the americanTs should be whining - just look at how many have died. They're the people im sad for. They lost everything
but yeah the looting is wrong - exept when the people at the busses broke a shop open for food because they were almost starved to death
P.S my dad knows someone from where the hurricane hit and hes fine (just so people know that fact)

Okay, New Orleans basically had a tsunami with the height of the waves made by the strong winds, so why the heck isn't aid being sent to America as quickly as it was sent to Asia.
I've got a feeling it's the fact that America is so rich, they seem like a more independant country, but that's no excuse.
Ordinary people like us can't help, because we arn't being given any donation phone lines etc, like we were when the tsunami happened.
I saw people on the news having to queue at a super market to get drinks, but there was only like 15 bottles of water, and this was meant to provide for a queue of about 200 starving people, yeah right?! So the only other choice they have is to drink soda and coke etc.
That s.hitty stuff on a empty stomach, it will make them bloody ill, and the only food they were being given was crisps, that's not even proper food!
It really needs to be sorted!
The government isnt to blame for the storm itself obviously, or even the people who stayed (a lot of people had no way to escape anyway), but my god, its been days, and states have sent military and things like that, but the US government hasent done nothing. They said they sent a bunch of medical stuff, but it would take weeks to sort everything. We knew the storm was comming, these things should have been already down there and on hand.
The US is the richest country in the world, but this state, and the people in the city, are not. Not many have insurance, home destroyed, they have nothing.
And just because the storm is over, doesnt mean people arent dying. People are still stranded, stuck on rooftops, and litterally floating on debree. ITS OVER 90 DEGREES. They are dehydrated, and a lack of clean water isnt helping. No, they cant drink the flood water because it is so contaminated. It litterally could kill you in hours. There are dead bodies just floating in the water.
There is a huge thing that fox, abc, and nbc are showing for efforts next friday I think, with a bunch of bands performing, not sure who though. But that is for the aftermath. People are dying now.
Yes, I also read that the water has alligators and **** swimming in it in some places.Originally Posted by RedStratocas
