I think it's mainly because we've been there done that. I'd have thought a general HxHD would have been stored away and you could bring that back when no occasions are taking place?

Chinese New Year and Valentines are both in a few weeks. So it would be a waste of a new layout if done now.

Exactly, it was done to bring back the 'retro' look, it was ok the first time several times after that its just boring.

The one before Christmas was the "Retro" look of all time. I never called this one retro, this is just an older style layout that's being reused again to bridge the gap.
