    Erm. I'm not sure on the exact age but I know that it's very unlikely that a young person would actually be elected because, let's face it, they're all afraid that a younger Pope might rebel and start doing things the "wrong" way (basically "wrong" means "not the way they think it should be" )

    Indeed, or just assassinate them - they enjoyed a good religious or feudal killing back in Renaissance Italy Poison was a favourite. Popes are disposable, God can create a new leader

    After looking, I found the youngest current cardinal is 54 years old, and the oldest 88. Usually, to become as highly ranked as archbishop (the level leading to cardinal) takes like decades of devotion to the RC Church. No UK cardinal, though @AlexJRiley; think it was you .
    The Archbishop of Westminster usually gets honoured with cardinalship, but the incumbent has yet to, leaving us to tag along with Ireland's >.>
