I'd rather be lonely than have completely fake friends.

you always run the risk of having fake friends even if they seem genuine. been friends with a group for 15 years and we still gossip about each other lol but we also help each other out, keep secrets for each other, lie for each other etc so ill take my fake friends can feel lonely even with 'real' friends anyway

Wouldn't like to be lonely and I'd get really depressed if I didn't have people to socialise with/talk to. Fake friends is better than none.

I'd pick lonely because eventually you'd get used to it and you wouldn't have to rely on friends if you wanted to go out.

I wouldn't want either to be honest but if I had to choose, it'll probably be lonely. Although with fake friends, you'd still have some company but I think it'll just cause drama which is effort to deal with haha so lonely!
