Yeh, as for MattG not liking Protests, Thats his problem, but it's freedom of speach at the end of the day, and we are all entitled to our say.

Yokoso is like "welcome to this place" and I think irrashaimase is a bit more like "welcome back to this place". I'm in the same position , casually learning the language
