I dislike LGBT campaigns like this and pride as well. It seems counter-productive to want equality and to not be seen as "different" then decide to have a special event aimed exclusively for homosexuals, bisexuals and trans-gendered individuals. Granted these events do not necessarily only have LGBT individuals go as heterosexuals go too, it seems out of date by about 10 years to have this sort of event.

A new name would be better - perhaps just "Pride" focusing on equality, humanity, morality and kinship? Have it focus on diversity rather than be hosted by a bunch of people grasping at a stereotype they passive-aggressively wish they wouldn't be judged by.

What annoys me more than special times which are supposedly to think about X group of people is that T is lumped in with LGB when it has nothing at all to do with sexuality and just gets overlooked in every campaign despite it being legal in 33/50 States to fire someone solely for being transgender, or to deny someone housing for being transgender, because the courts refused to pass an amendment to the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to cover federal protection for transgender people. Congrats America

What about straight people who are oppressed for other reasons? Why do they not get a song and dance in the media & whatnot? It's stupid to even give it a month of "awareness" to begin with as it just makes it seem like it's abnormal to be LGBT, making them stand out more when the aim is to promote "equality".

Are LGBT people really that oppressed in the west/developed world? In the UK, the biggest issue they seemed to complain (and go about wrongly in my opinion) was gay marriage which is virtually identical to civil partnership... You could say lots of people get bullied for being it, and you're probably right however people get bullied for so many reasons that being LGBT isn't actually the issue.
Well I consider "Gay" Marriage, "Marriage". I didn't go out and have a Gay Walk this morning. I didn't go and Gay Park my car last night?

Love is love (Between two consenting adults) It's not a privilege for gay couples to get married. Its a right. A privilege is like how churches don't pay any taxes....

hate how people try to dedicate months to **** like this, it just separates us further

i think this is even worse than black history month 'cause this is just celebrating that some people are born with neurological abnormalities

stop forcing it in my face

people will accept you in time, not by forcing it down peoples throats

Marriage is essentially a legal contract. Going for a walk or parking your car isn't.

It's as irritating as gay pride parades. If you want the world to accept you and treat you equally, you don't go about it by having a gigantic parade which heterosexuals do not have at all.

Not that heterosexuals could have pride parades anyway, they would be bashed and threatened like you have no idea.

Apart from the formal definition of marriage is "the formal union of a man and a woman". And there's about as much right to marriage as there's a right to being served in a shop.

But what I really don't understand is why LGBT people fought so hard to be allowed to marry in an institution which doesn't even "approve" of them.

The prides are still unnecessary. If you want to educate about homosexuality do public speeches, lectures, visit schools, invest in scientific research (sociological/anthropological/biological/psychology) etc. etc. Gay pride parades don't normalise homosexuals because they are doing something that isn't normal/common.
