I watched the debate, and worth noting that I'm not Scottish, (so my opinion means nothing) but I want Scotland to stay. I was hoping that Darling would be better than he was, so that was quite a shame. I also thought the "fairly represented audience" seemed to be a lot more in favour of Salmond, but he didn't impress me much either.
To be fair, he doesn't have a Plan B. It's all about the Pound. But I don't understand Salmond's reasoning at all. If they enter a currency union, they still won't be in charge of things economy related, the Bank of England will. So how is that gaining independence? And if they don't enter a currency union, defaulting on their debt doesn't sound very good (and sounds even worse for England/Wales/NI).
And it's all fair and good saying the pound is as much Scotland's as it is the rest of the UK, but surely the same applies to the oil?
I must say though, the polls afterwards are frightening. I must say it's the first time I've actually thought that 'Yes' has a chance of winning.
It would still be independent though, currency wise you'd still be tied to Bank of England.I watched the debate, and worth noting that I'm not Scottish, (so my opinion means nothing) but I want Scotland to stay. There's quite a difference between currency and natural resources our country gather/collect though.
Yes/No has always been 50/50 or close to it, hasn't it?
Hopefully more up to date poll results soon but the latest ones were earlier this month, so seems about 10-15% undecided, then about 10% more for No.
