"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother.

Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.

My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon." - Melissa Rivers

I am absolutely gutted. I don't usually care for celebrities, but she was one I really did care for: she was an amazingly hard worker - never stopped - was incredibly and genuinely kind to all those who met her unlike many celebrities, and she had amazing wit and talent that allowed her career to span for 50 years which is remarkable when it comes to comedy which is something the vile haters (who she wouldn't give a **** about in typical Joan fashion) don't understand.

She's an absolutely star and if i'm honest - I think she'd be glad she went out with a bang rather than suffer or get older and lose her work which is what she said she always dreaded and did not want. RIP the Queen of Comedy.

I think my favourite video though is when she got high, she's the crazy grandma we all secretly want.
