Was at work when I first heard the news and didn't believe it at first (person who said it is known for being a little kooky) so quickly went on bbc news and there it was. RIP Alan Rickman, I was not as seduced by his voice as everyone else but he brought Snape to life as well as many other characters.
More awful news, not a good week to be an old British man with a distinctive voice... shit.
By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Warvan, you shall be avenged xxxxxxxxx RIP
R.I.P
It has been a really bad week for losses in the industry, I feel the reaction to Alan Rickman has been a lot quieter though but to me he will be missed a whole lot. Time to watch the original Die Hard![]()
I have a feeling if David Bowie hadn't died a few days before then Alan Rickman's death would have appeared at the end of a news broadcast as just a quick "oh and Alan Rickman died today for those Harry Potter fans who remember him". But because Bowie had just gone and everyone had made a massive to-do they had to do the same for Rickman![]()
no way. rickman is much more than 'that guy from Harry potter' lol. if he had died first he probably would have received the same response as Bowie did. i think Bowie is just a bigger icon and people are still talking about it so it's harder to focus on rickman.I have a feeling if David Bowie hadn't died a few days before then Alan Rickman's death would have appeared at the end of a news broadcast as just a quick "oh and Alan Rickman died today for those Harry Potter fans who remember him". You must be on a totally different planet to everyone else if you think that. People love him and just looking at the response on Social Media shows how much he was loved and respected.I have a feeling if David Bowie hadn't died a few days before then Alan Rickman's death would have appeared at the end of a news broadcast as just a quick "oh and Alan Rickman died today for those Harry Potter fans who remember him". RIP to a great actor.

well that's imo! think i'll watch dogma and the hitchhikers guide to the galaxay tnytI think you both may have misunderstood me. I love Alan Rickman's work too and am seriously sad he's gone - I was so confused for all of Thursday as it just wasn't sinking in that he'd actually died and I wouldn't be seeing him in films anymore.
But as Jen said Bowie was an icon in a way that Rickman wasn't and I'm not saying people would have been less sad or cared less, I'm saying he wouldn't have had nearly as much media coverage from the BBC and newspapers had Bowie not died a couple of days before. That has nothing to do with social media and how the public as a whole react.
